Our next stop on the Oise was Pontoise – 6 km and one-hour upstream of Cergy. One of our shorter days. Little did we know we would soon have to pick up the pace.
Pontoise is pretty. By day…
And by night…
As we were exploring the town, we stumbled across a restaurant that looked interesting.
I do like that in France you can usually see the daily Menu without having to go inside – and then, red-faced, retreat if you don’t see anything you like.
We went inside.
But this time it wasn’t because of the Menu. On the Carte – also displayed outside – Tarte Tatin was one of the dessert choices. Not just one of the choices but the first choice. I can never resist. We had found our restaurant.
Of course, our plats came first.
When it came time for dessert, there was no Tarte Tatin. The chef explained that the Carte posted outside was an old one. I left with a sad face.
