They say good things come in small packages. Mary-sur-Marne is certainly proof of that. The town is barely bigger than the tiny pontoon we moored against.
Just a few metres from our wheelhouse stood two buildings. Each housed a truly wonderful restaurant. We arrived just in time to have lunch at the one on the left.
“Restaurant Quai des Brumes” was a fitting name considering the weather we had been experiencing.
A four-course lunch cost €15.50 – tax and tip included.
Yes, a half-litre of wine and our cups of coffee were included in the €15.50 price.
We had dinner onboard that night. There’s only so much rich food one can eat in one day. That doesn’t mean we didn’t eat at the other restaurant in Mary-sur-Marne. We did – on our way back down the Marne one month later. Photos will follow in a future chapter.
Now, it was time to cast off – finally under a sunny sky.
