We moored right below the sign that welcomed us to Sens.
It was a beautiful spot.
Shortly after we arrived, we were pleased to see we had a new neighbour.
Sens caters to bargees. The mooring, electricity, and water are all free. We spent a week exploring the delights the city has to offer. Starting with the market.
Each entrance highlighted some of the produce that waited inside.
There was much more than the market to take in – by day or by night.
Some of the architecture was a little different than what have seen so far in this part of France.
Other buildings were very much in the style we are used to.
This restaurant made us smile. But did’t make us want to eat icki sushi – even if it ended in an “i” instead of a “y.”
Nor were we drawn to this restaurant with a non-politically correct name.
The window of a travel agency caught our eye – and made us understand why some people think Canada is a land of year-round snow. Snowshoes and dog sleds are how we get around.
There was not a single summer shot.
As we have traveled through France we have noticed that opposite every train station there is either a Hôtel de la Gare, Restaurant de la Gare, or a Brasserie de la Gare. Sens was no exception.
We had lunch from the Menu and left well fed.
Most evenings, dinner was on the aft-deck.
We left Sens knowing we would be back soon. We will have to make a U-turn farther down the Yonne in order to begin our final leg to Paris. Being back is something to look forward to.
