From Soissons, we covered twenty-eight kilometres and passed through six locks. It took four-and-a-half hours. We arrived at Bourg-et-Comin in time for a late lunch onboard Aleau.
The marina is at the junction of the Canal Latéral à l’Aisne (what we’ve been on) and the Canal de l’Oise à l’Aisne (on which we’ll moor for the night). It’s just a large grassy area with beautiful trees and bornes supplying electricity and water. Perfect.

As often happens when barging – and when we least expect it – we bumped into friends. Esme was already moored there when we arrived. A good thing as we had to raft against her. By the time we got there in early afternoon, every spot was taken.

Just after we arrived, another boat came in and rafted to the boat behind Esme.

Three other boats – two cruisers and a commercial had to moor on the other side.

There were seven of us, including one commercial, moored at the park plus the three on the other side. The mooring offers nothing more than peace and quiet – obviously something that was in great demand.

We pushed off from Esme in the morning. We would be going in opposite directions – but we know we will bump into them again. This was the third time we’ve met this summer.
