Because it has nothing to do with us. Neither Jeannie nor I contributed anything. Nor does it have anything to do with Aleau cruising the canals and rivers of France.
But it does have to do with Paris – the city we have fallen in love with.
After a 13-year hiatus, the Waiters Race returned. We wanted to watch it. But we saw that it would happen after we left Paris for the Netherlands. So we told ourselves – next year. And did not put this year’s date in our calendar. Too bad.
As you have read, our lack of a functioning furnace and a combination of high and fast-flowing water has us stuck in Paris – although I don’t think the words “stuck” and “Paris” can be put in the same sentence. You guessed it. The Waiters Race went ahead without us being aware it was happening. We would have loved to have been there and watch the waiters (used to describe both men and women) pass by. The best I can do is share this story from NBC News.
