On New Year’s Eve 2022, we had dinner at Jouvence. (See Chapter 188.) For Valentine’s Day 2024, we decided to go there for lunch. The photo was taken before it opened for the day. A short while later, those chairs were all taken.
The Menu, as is typical in France, left us with only one decision – two courses or three?
The Entrée, as you can see above and below, was egg. But prepared in a very delicious manner.
Then, the Plat. Pollock.
For dessert, a chocolate mousse. Chocolate always tastes far better than it looks.
The mousse was sublime – but then I am a dessert person. If I had my way, it would always be the first course served. So it was no surprise that the sign by the front door of this restaurant caught my eye.
It was closed so I couldn’t tell if that was all they served. A visit is in order. Directly across the street, we spotted a restaurant that was open. Since we were on our way home from our Valentine’s Day lunch, we didn’t go in. But we did add it to our list of potential eating spots. (As if they’re difficult to find in Paris.)
At the far right of the photo above, you may be able to make out the words “La Salle à Manger” on the sign above the awning. And what a dining room it is.
It looks like there is going to be quite the dinner – but a little too crowded for Valentine’s Day.
The tables out front, with tiny hearts on the Menu, look a bit more romantic.
Maybe that’s where we’ll go for Valentine’s Day next year.
