I’ve already posted many photos of Auxerre but I’ll add two – just to jog your memory. Both from Aleau. One by day. One by night.
We had already sampled a wonderful array of restaurants in Auxerre. But we couldn’t leave without trying just one more. Lunch at Restaurant Poivretsel. Yup, all one word.
One look at the Menu and Jeannie was smiling.
We both chose the same ‘plat’ but went our separate ways for dessert.
It turns out we were on the same page. Both our desserts were apple – just prepared differently.
Stomachs full, we were back on the Yonne – heading downstream towards Paris. Here we are on the ‘Dérivation de Gurgy’ – bypassing a shallow stretch of the river. As with the Marne, we would spend some time on the Yonne – and some time detouring around it..
On the Yonne, since we were going downstream, we could hit 10 km/hr. On the dérivations, we had to stick to the 6 km/h speed limit.
We forged ahead – knowing that dinner in Villeuve-sur-Yonne awaited us.
