We’ve now gone from the Marne, to the Seine, to the Yonne, as we make our way to the DBA Rally in Auxerre. Today, we passed Pont-sur-Yonne. Shouldn’t it really be called ‘Demi-Pont-sur-Yonne?’ The bridge was first built in the 9th Century. Rebuilt in the 1100s, 1300s, 1600s, 1700s, etc. It met its demise in 1940. Never to be rebuilt. At least we didn’t have to worry about lowering our Bimini.
While it looks like the bridge will stay the way it is, not so for the church in Pont-sur-Yonne. It is shrouded in tarps as works goes on out-of-sight.
