We tied up in Dormans with a lovely view of the church – and to the sound of its bells which rang far too frequently.
We were joined by Barberry – cruising from Northern Ireland to Turkey. Makes Aleau’s voyage look like a short walk in the park.
There are two highly recommended restaurants in Dormans. As with Mary-sur-Marne, the plan is to try one on the way upstream and the other on the way back.
We started with lunch at Sylvain Suty.
More than three times what we paid for that lovely lunch in Mary-sur-Marne – and wine and coffee were not included in the price.
It was the farthest we’ve had to walk from Aleau to a restaurant. After all the calories we’ve been consuming, that may have been a good thing. At least we got to see the town.
We began with the Tarte au Comté.
For the main course, or “plat,” Jeannie chose the Bouillabaisse de Lotte aux Asperges de Champagne. I had the Emietté de Boeuf.
Once again, dessert disappeared before I could pause and put down my fork to take a shot.
The next day’s lunch was more modest and eaten on Aleau’s aft-deck.
