Only eight kilometres and four locks from Santenay – we’d make it just in time for lunch.
The restaurants seemed to be getting closer and closer to the edge of the canal. Maybe we’d have to swim to our table at the next one. At Le Marchand, still on dry land, we were shown the Menu. Three courses. No choice. Fine with us.
After struggling with what to order, a cold beer hit the spot. Cruising was over for the day. It was time to relax.
Before the beer was gone, the three courses began arriving. First, the Terrine vegetarianne.
Then, the Sauté de veau. Eat it straight from the casserole it was cooked in – being careful not to touch it. Or look more couth and eat it from a bowl.
Dessert was a strawberry panna cotta.
Dinner was eaten onboard – but not before a stroll along the canal.
