There are many different types of locks awaiting us.
There are staircase locks – sometimes as many as nine in a row.
On the Canal du Midi, they are oval shaped.
There are some small ones that you have to operate yourself.
And there are some massive ones that are operated by someone you can’t even see. This photo was shot by our friends Dave and Becky from their Piper barge, Wanderlust. Some locks are even bigger than this.
So much to see, so much to do. And all of it at 6 km/h.
